3 Wonderful Years May 18, 2005 I've had this modem for 3 years and have had no problems. Setup was easy and it has worked for multiple cable providers.
Difficult problem - Easy to fix! February 8, 2004 To make a long story short, I bought this modem back in 2001 in advance of my cable installation. The installer could not get it to work - the cable light would flash slowly indicating it could not get a signal. After repeated attempts the installer left me with a rental modem which worked fine. I sent the CMX-110 back to Best Data who quickly replaced it under warranty. When I received the replacement, I hooked it up again to find the same symptoms as the original. Just when cable tech support and I were ready to give up on this, one of the tech guys said he heard a rumor and suggested I take a pair of needle-nose pliers and pull on the stinger (that is the actual cable wire that sticks out past the cable end). He had heard that this modem required just a little longer stinger than was standard. I was initially disappointed when I tried this because I could only get just the tiniest bit more wire to come out. But when I tried it, I got an immediate connection and it's been fine ever since!
OK, but failed too soon for my tastes August 1, 2003 This modem was really easy to setup, worked like a charm, but then it died after a year and 1/2. I would like to think that a piece of electronics with no moving parts would become obsolete before it breaks, but that was not the case with this modem. It lasted about 1/2 as long as I think it should have for my money, so I give it 3 stars.pMy cable company recommended the Toshiba PCS2200 as the modem they have the fewest problems with, so that is what I purchased as a replacement (it has a 5 year warranty instead of only 1).pSorry Best Data... I most likely won't purchase another product from you.
Never had a problem yet.. and it's been almost 2 years January 19, 2003 Works perfect for me. Plug and play not plug and pray...
Couldn't be better October 4, 2002 This cable modem couldn't have been easier or better. I have had it for almost a year, and it was worked every day with not one glitch.pSpeeds are fantastic. I check the speed using broadband measuring tools (like at 2wire.com), frequently, and the modem has performed consistently above the level I expect with my contract. (of course speeds are mostly determined by the cable company and the number of people on my part of the system).pA quality piece of equipment!
