I am using this right now in a dark bedroom. I have it focused in the middle of the keyboard and as high up as possible to permit the light to 'spread' across the keyboard. The middle is well illuminated while getting sufficient 'glow' for me to make out the other keys. The closer the light gets to the keyboard, the less effective - although one can still discern the keys on the edges. If I could only get it a little higher it would be perfect.br /br /The light glows strongly on the edge of the light itself - it doesn't bother me but I don't know how it might affect others. Something the designers might need to look at.br /br /The 'snake' holds its shape and seems sturdily constructed.br /br /I don't think I would recommend this for anything bigger than the 15" laptop that I am using. If you do, and if you have usb ports on either end of your computer, you should get two lights and place them on either end.
