Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Cisco SD208 8-Port 10/100 Switch can significantly increase the speed of your network traffic. A switch serves the same function as a hub in a network design, tying your network equipment together. But unlike a simple-minded hub, which divides the network's bandwidth among all the attached devices, a switch delivers full network speeds at each port. Installing this cost-effective 8-port 10/100 switch can potentially give you eight times your current network speed. It's also the perfect way of integrating 10-Mbps Ethernet and 100-Mbps Fast Ethernet devices. All eight ports are auto speed negotiating and have automatic medium dependent interface (MDI) and MDI crossover (MDI-X) detection, so you don't have to worry about the cable type. Each port independently negotiates for best speed and half- or full-duplex mode, for up to 200 Mbps of bandwidth per port. Fast store-and-forward switching prevents damaged packets from being passed on to the network. The ultra-compact case design is sure to fit into your workgroup environment. Let the Cisco SD208 8-Port 10/100 Switch kick your 10/100 network into high gear.

5 out of 5 stars Does what it's supposed to do easily   December 21, 2008
Simply put - this switch worked perfectly - just plug the ethernet cables in, power up and it works. Couldn't be easier.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do. A nice, compact little 10/100 switch with eight ports. Works great.

Flawless operation. Plug and play set up. Maybe someday their gigabit switches will work as well.

1 out of 5 stars Nice switch, bad longevity   June 12, 2007

I had two of these fail in the last week. Both are about a year old. The first one has a couple of ports that stopped working, and the second completely died overnight. They're plugged into UPS's, so power surges didn't cause the problem. I'm really dissapointed!

5 out of 5 stars Reliable Basic Switch   May 9, 2007

I have deployed several of these switches in a large environment. This series of switch has proven reliable everywhere we have deployed them. For a small, unmanaged switch it seems to be the best choice available. Crossover detect is becoming a more common feature, and is a real time saver. I have also seen this switch overcome cabling deficiencies where other "mini-switchs" have failed.
