1 out of 5 stars Don't take the risk   January 2, 2009
I bought this even after reading all the negative reviews on it thinking that it was worth the risk for the price; that was a mistake.br /br /It worked great for a week until all of the sudden it wouldn't. Months later after it quitting on me it still has a somewhat pleasant burning aroma to it. If you like that smell I would recommend that you buy a candle instead, it's much cheaper.br /br /Please don't take the risk of buying this.

5 out of 5 stars Very Good and Fast Wireless Receiver!   December 30, 2008
I bought two prior to Christmas to send with laptops that I installed for Make A Wish. Today I am buying two more. They work very well and installbr /better than any other USB type I used. They get awesome in-house reception.br /

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy it, it was totally down on the first day use.   December 30, 2008
Just worked around couple of hours. After replugging once, the adapter is totally down. My laptop and PC cannot identify it any more.

1 out of 5 stars Unacceptable   December 28, 2008
When it's working, it's fine.br /br /Often it stops working. With other wireless adapters in Windows, you can just right-click and "Repair" and then they're fine; but the Trendnet comes with its own (extremely clunky) software. Often, the software can't see the adapter. I believe this is because the adapter was overheating.br /br /Because this was my first wireless adapter, I thought all of this was normal. Only when I got a slightly more expensive one from Belkin that worked reliably (and didn't need special software and drivers) did I realize that most adapters require very little user attention. You shouldn't have to constantly disconnect, reconnect, reinstall drivers, etc.br /br /I wish I'd kept my manual, packaging, etc. - supposedly there is a three-year warranty, but I didn't realize that and I threw the adapter away. But, honestly, the Belkin adapter was so much better that I'm not sure it would have been worth even the slightest hassle to return the Trendnet one.br /br /You might find the performance of this wireless adapter acceptable if you don't use it often. Maybe. But I'd recommend that you spend another $10 and get something that works properly.
