Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Wireless-G is the upcoming 54Mbps wireless networking standard that's almost five times faster than the widely deployed Wireless-B (802.11b) products found in homes, businesses, and public wireless hotspots around the country - but since they share the same 2.4GHz radio band, Wireless-G devices can also work with existing 11Mbps Wireless-B equipment. The Wireless-G Notebook Adapter from Linksys has both standards built in, so you can connect your notebook to existing 802.11b infrastructure, and also the screaming fast Wireless-G networks. The included Setup Wizard will walk you through configuring the adapter to your network's settings, step by step. Then just slide it into your notebook's PC Card slot and enjoy network access with your notebook computer, while retaining true mobility.Once you're connected, you can keep in touch with your e-mail, access the Internet, and share files and other resources such as printers and network storage with other computers on the network, wherever you wander. At home, you can surf the web or use instant messaging to chat with friends while sitting out on the patio. You'll also be able to connect with any of the growing number of public wireless hotspots springing up in coffee shops, airport lounges, hotels and convention centers. And as those hotspots upgrade to the high-speed Wireless-G standard, you'll be ready to take advantage of the increased speeds. Get connected to current-standard 802.11b networks today, and be prepared for the future with the Wireless-G Notebook Adapter from Linksys.

5 out of 5 stars works good   December 28, 2008
Have only been using this product for a couple of weeks but it seems to work fine,it met my expectations. However I originally purchased it for a newer laptop(2007) and did not realize the card slots had completely change configuration. So it did not fit my initial intended use but works great on my older laptop. Lesson: Check port type before purchasing!

1 out of 5 stars You may save $50 or ...   December 23, 2008
... you may just be throwing $11 plus shipping and hours of your time down a rat hole. I bought a "retail box" version of this adapter from Amazon last week for about $20. After installing it in my IBM Thinkpad laptop, I found that the laptop would no longer go into standby (sleep) with the adapter present. Further on-line investigation suggests that the Linksys driver does not properly implement Microsoft's NDIS driver standard in the area of device power control, and hence blocks the standby operation.br /br /Linksys' driver for the device I bought (WRT54G, v3) was last updated over two years ago, although a search shows that numerous other purchasers of this device been have complained about this problem, as well as the ineffectiveness of Linksys customer service. As a retired Cisco exec, I am truly ashamed of the shoddy quality of this device software.

4 out of 5 stars wireless linksys adapter   December 22, 2008
thanks for fair price, great service. sent product right away, and it's performed well.

1 out of 5 stars Very old, feeble, slow   December 18, 2008
Beware--- they shipped me a v5 version of this product that is br /four years old. It has known security issues, there are no updatedbr /drivers, and the signal strength on one of Linksys's own G-routersbr /is very low where other G-adapters have excellent signal. Insist onbr /knowing the version number of the product, and, look it up beforebr /purchasing.

4 out of 5 stars Good adapter, can't beat the price   October 2, 2008
I use this adapter on my Dell Inspiron notebook and it works great. It's fast and easy to set up. I've tried several adapters and this one by far is the easiest to get running out of the box. The best reason I can recommend this product is that my card unfortunately was damaged when my notebook computer fell from a desk. The good news? The adapter still works like new today. Durable, easy to use, and priced right. Would definitely recommend.
