This is my second asus eeepc I have a 900 as well. The keyboard on the 900 is barely useable on the 900HA asus has managed to squeeze a little more keyboard into the same size chassis making this machine much more useable for actual typing the older 900 is not well suited to lots of typing for an adult. This computer is reasonably quick for most day to day use and has excellent battery life, I get about 3 hours of internet browsing and netflix movie watching, much more if i turn off the wireless

I picked this mini-notebook out for my 16 year old who wanted that would not add to much to the 20 pounds of books he carries to and from school. I chose this Eee over the Acer and others because it is easily upgradable in terms of RAM and harddrive. After I purchased it I also invested ($30) in 2 Gigs of RAM (just in case). I spent a bit of time loading a number of software packages (OpenOffice, Eclipse Software development suite, ....). I was impressed with the speed and capacity, the processor is very capable and for something that you can hold in your hand it was enjoyable to use. It took no time to get used to the small but full keyboard. The wireless function flawlessly, Skype and the built in webcam and speak saves the price of a webcam and headset and is well integrated. The 4 hour battery life is great. There is a VGA port as well and it drives a 19 inch flat panel display, wireless mouse and keyboard at home. I really have no problems with the machine and my son loves it. I highly recommend this product and Amazon delivered in a timely manner.
great starter pc January 8, 2009
I bought two of these one for my 12 year old and one for my 14 year old for Christmas. They both love them. Great starter PC- gets the kids off of my computer so I can actually use it. Mail client is easy to use and set up, I run McAfee virus software and have had no problems. I bought the cheap warranty to so if the kids mess it up- no worries. It has taught them to be responsible, they love the built in camera and microphone and are uploading to youtube constantly. It's also a great incentive to follow the rules and get good grades.
